Mrs. Clinton, who plans to watch the vice presidential debate from her home in Chappaqua, N.Y., said she was “very confident” in her running mate, Tim Kaine. She said the two had been emailing about the debate, suggesting that she did not want to interrupt his preparation rhythm with a phone call.
